The wooden three masted schooner Lilly Hamilton was built by George N. Pontine in Port Burwell, Ontario in 1874. The official registry number was C71271; she was a Canadian registered vessel. The Hamilton was valued at $6,000 at the time of loss and was insured as was the cargo of 680 pounds of salt.

November 1880: Received major repairs after sinking in the Welland Canal. The schooner Sligo broke her moorings and collided with the Lilly Hamilton.

September 1883: Ashore at Hay Bay.

Register closed at Port Burwell, Ontario on November 22, 1885.
Final Voyage

The following report was printed in the August 27th issue of the 1885 Door County Advocate: "The schooner Lilly Hamilton foundered in the lake about twenty miles southeast from Cana Island at an early hour on Friday morning, having filled in the heavy sea which prevailed at the foot of the lake at that time. The crew took the yawl and only just got fairly away from the vessel when she went down. They kept the boat before the sea for the next six hours, when they were picked up by the large lake tug J.C. Perrett, bound up, and taken to Milwaukee."
