Final Voyage

08/22/1898: The small schoonerNorman Capsized during a NE "hurricane" while moored in Egg Harbor; reported a total loss by Door County Advocate 12/31/98. Louis Tilman drowned.

The Door County Advocate reported on November 10, 1900 that"Capt. W.P. Kirtland having abandoned the scow-schooner Norman, which went ashore in this harbor during one of the heavy blows in September, recently purchased the Wm Finch from Green Bay parties. ..."

Later, the Advocate reports on a few occasions about the little schooner Norman owned by Captain Bernard Anderson. It is unclear if the "lost" Norman which was captained by Kirtland was later salvaged and is the same as this one owned by Captain Anderson or if it is different vessel. What also makes it more confusing is that Captain Kirtland also lost the Norma and the Wm Finch in 1900 in Egg Harbor. Are the reported dates and vessel names correct?
