Service History

The small three masted schooner Wollin was built in Milwaukee in 1854 and had been rebuilt several times. She was valued at $1,000 at the time of her loss. Last Document Surrendered Milwaukee 5/17/1897: "Total Loss"
Final Voyage

"On the night of Wednesday 4/29/1897, the schooner Wollin, bound from Frankfort, MI to Milwaukee, WI was blown ashore opposite the pumping station above Sheboygan North Point. The schooner had her canvas blown away when she was six miles offshore. She let go her anchor, but it dragged and the Wollin went on the beach. At 3 am Thursday morning, the engineer of the pumping station spotted the vessel and notified the lifesavers, who took the crew off the wreck."
