Final Voyage

In late September or early October 1873, the scow Glenham had loaded bark at Hitt and Davidson's Clay Banks pier and set sail, but she went aground about one mile north of there. George Roberts, whose dock and sawmill would have been nearby, rescued the crew with some difficulty. The cargo of bark which had just been loaded was salvaged, but the Glenham was abandoned and went to pieces at this site. She was considered old and rotten, and the remains have never been located. It's possible that the remains of the Glenham wreck could be in shallow water anywhere along the shore within approximately a mile north of Clay Banks.
