Final Voyage

"While the H.S. Sill, of Waukegan, with two scow loads of stone, was off Tow Rivers Wednesday night bound from Sturgeon Bay to Waukegan, both scows began to leak badly. Hence the tug's course was promptly altered for Two Rivers. When within a few hundred feet of the harbor the leading scow gave a lurch to starboard and apparently broke her back as half the deck at once submerged. A Little later she settled upon the bottom in twelve feet of water well in between the piers... The wrecked scow and her cargo were owned by Huzzy and Co., of Waukegan, and valued at $3,000. The firm will be required to remove the sunken scow as it seriously obstructs the harbor channel."
