Service History

The Aetna was originally enrolled at Cleveland, Ohio: 1863. She was a wooden, two masted schooner built in Madison Dock, Ohio. In 1871 the Aetna received new decks. During the winter of 1875-1876 she was rebuilt as a three masted schooner.
Last enrollment, Chicago 4/17/76.
Final Voyage

On October 20th, 1878 the Aetna reportedly foundered Northeast of Dean's Pier near Two Creeks Wisconsin. She was loaded with iron ore and was a total loss. One account lists the year as 1890.
