The University of Wisconsin Sea Grant Institute and the Wisconsin Historical Society have produced visitors' guides for 18 of Wisconsin 's Lake Superior and Lake Michigan shipwrecks. Offering interpretive tours of the wrecks, the durable, waterproof slates measure 9.5" x 6.5" and feature site maps, schematics, diving information, vessel data, and histories. The guides are essential for anyone interested in the Great Lakes, shipwrecks, maritime history, or underwater archaeology.

The information presented in the shipwreck guides is the result of hundreds of hours of archaeological and historical research conducted by the WHS to help preserve the sites and tell the stories of the vessels and the men, women and children who sailed on them.

The guides are available in the three sets listed below.  In addition, a larger, eight-guide Door County is available from the Wisconsin Historical Society.  This set includes the Bullhead Point wrecks, Carrington, Christina Nilsson, Meridian , Fleetwing, Frank O'Connor, Louisiana , and the Pilot Island wrecks.
