keelsons

keelsons
The keelsons (background) display two slots similar to centerboard trunks in schooners but covered at the bottom by the vessel's keel. One was originally a centerboard trunk but was boarded-up. The other may have been bracing for deck stanchions or a bulkhead to prevent cargoes from shifting.
