Description
The Marinette County Historical Society 'Logging' Museum offers a look into 130-years of local history. Though a main focus of the museum is on Marinette's long logging history, other displays include dioramas, hunting tools, weapons, clothing, musical instruments and the restored Evancheck log cabin, an example of farmsteading 100 years ago. The museum focuses on the water as well, with one centerpiece a dugout canoe found in local Pickerel Pond and estimated to be 800 years old. The museum also examines the fishing history and traditions in the area through a diorama of a pond net, and exhibits on ice fishing and smelt fishing. Contact the museum or Marinette County Historical Society for further information.
