Service History

The wooden schooner Dispatch was built in Oswego, New York in 1857 and was designed to carry 14,000 bushels of grain. She was classed as C-1 in 1874 and valued at $4,000.
Final Voyage

On November 11, 1874, the schooner Dispatch missed the mouth of the Manitowoc harbor in a "terrific gale" and was swept on the beach alongside the south harbor pier. The southeast gale drove the schooner against the pier and smashed her rail and broke her deck. On December 3, 1874, the Milwaukee Sentinel reported that she had been stripped of her outfit and abandoned.
