The small wooden two masted schooner Mars was built in 1855 at Michigan City, Indiana.

Last Enrollment Date: 6/25/1857.
Final Voyage

November 17, 1857: The two masted schooner Mars bound from Port Washington to Milwaukee was initially reported as foundered, five lives and the vessel lost. Days later, the vessel was found ashore several miles south of Port Washington.

On April 3rd, 1868 a similar vessel reportedly struck a snag on the Mississippi River near Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Was the grounded Mars recovered in 1857?
