Service History

The City of Freemont was, at one time, a combination of the Leander Choate's hull and the machinery from the E.P.Weston. In 1888, after the side wheel steamer Leander Choate burned, the machinery from the old steamer E.P.Weston was placed in her hull, creating the C.S.Morris. In 1899, Bergstreser of Freemont, Wisconsin overhauled the C.S. Morris and renamed her the City of Freemont.
The City Of Freemont's usual route was the Wolf River.
Final Voyage

The book History of Winnebago County (page 606) reports that the City Of Freemont was eventually worn out and abandoned. She was apparently abandoned in 1891.
