"The Surprise was built in 1856 and rebuilt in 1873. The schooner was also recaulked in 1891... It was valued at 1000.00 dollars at the time of abandonment. In the mid 1880's, the Surprise spent most of its business time in the Green Bay area around Sister Bay and other ports." Last Document Surrendered Milwaukee May 23, 1900: "Abandonment"
